God's Word in your child's heart
Our Wednesday night program was established with the 9 verses every kid needs to know. We have expanded on that since then. Listen to what the Psalmist has to say: "I have hidden your Word in my heart, that I might not sin against You." -Psalm 119:11
We believe that the best thing that any parent can equip their child with is Scripture memory. By intentionally investing your time to help them learn Scripture, you are allowing God's Word to be available to them when they will need it most: Navigating a lost and broken world. We now have 4 lists of 9 scriptures for your children and your family to memorize.
How to use the lists
1. Learn the verse together.
Teach your child or family what the verse is saying. Explain any words that are unknown. The more that they understand the verse they are memorizing, the better that they can apply it to their lives down the road.
2. Ask the question and listen to their recitation.
The question that you ask includes a word that hints at the verse. Encourage your child or family to memorize it word for word. (These lists are in the CSB bible version that we use at church.) Create meaningful touchpoints that help your kids or your family engage with God’s Word in age-appropriate ways, whether through songs, motions, games, or conversation.
3. Commit to Consistency
When kids encounter the same verses repeatedly through daily or weekly practice, the words move from short-term memory into long-term retention. The key is establishing predictable rhythms that make scripture memory a natural part of their routine rather than an occasional task. With consistency, you will see your family begin to internalize biblical truth that shapes their thinking, guides their decisions, and anchors their faith as they grow. The discipline of regular practice communicates that God’s Word is worth returning to again and again, building both biblical literacy and spiritual habits that last a lifetime.
