And Not Because of Me

By January 15, 2015Blog
I don’t know why you created
We fail to yield to your design
All our diversions over rated
Your anger would be justified
I will never meet your standards
This container full of plans for me alone
My broken heart you transplanted
Replaced it with a compass that will lead me home
Because of you I’ll never get what I deserve
Because of you my broken heart has learned to serve
Because of you eternal glory I will see
Because of you
 And not because of me
I’m learning more about your mercy
You alone balance justice and love
I gain nothing through my efforts
It’s given freely from your grace above
I cannot see around the next turn
You guide my feet and know all the steps to come
The narrow path seams too much for me
You picked up my cross then you battled death and won
Because of you I’ll never get what I deserve
Because of you my broken heart has learned to serve
Because of you eternal glory I will see
Because of you
 And not because of me
Turn my efforts to your purpose
Use my qualities though they are few
Take this clay and mold me gently
You don’t need me but my God I sure need you
Jesus I will never understand you
Loving others is as close as I can get
Your grace will always be sufficient
Any need my soul has you’ve already met
Because of you I’ll never get what I deserve
Because of you my broken heart has learned to serve
Because of you eternal glory I will see
Because of you
 And not because of me
